Michael Rogers, who runs a monthly poetry event at the Garfield Park Arts Center and edits a poetry journal, has been hospitalized at St. Francis-Indianapolis. Two of his friends, Shirley Martin and Linda Gosnell, report that they went to the hospital on Saturday to see Michael. They were told only family members were able to visit him at this time. I'll update this post with contact info for those who wish to send get-well greetings.
UPDATE: The following message is from CIWA member Norma Gardner: One thankful prayer is Michael Rogers is now able to see visitors. He is in rehab at Manor Care Health Services located at 8549 S. Madison next to the Crestwood Apartments on the east side of the street. This is a few blocks north of County Line road on Madison Avenue. His room number is 171A, phone number is 317-859-5513. I spoke with Michael's aunt and she said he was ready for company, and before I could get to my computer to type this message Michael called me. His voice was stronger then it has been for a year and yes, he would love to have company. If you are unable to visit give him a call. He's aware everyone has been concerned about his health.
Comments and notes on poetry events in Central Indiana. ("Central" means within an hour's drive from Indianapolis). Feel free to respond to any post. "Poetry" is a big tent, so expect anything from Cole Porter to Etheridge Knight. Send messages to jl.kato@sbcglobal.net. And, oh yeah. Sometimes this blog will report or comment on other literary topics, just because.
